Cynthia Gail Stason, 79, of East Hartford, Connecticut died Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Jerome Home in New Britain, Connecticut.

Cynthia was the loving wife for 50 years of the late Stanley L. Stason. She was born in Hartford on October 1, 1939. Both of her parents, Ralph A. Risley and Helen (Peter) Benson, preceded her.

Cynthia is survived by two sons, Christopher J. (Darlene) Stason of Temecula, California, Keith J. (Kelly) Stason, of Chicago; a daughter, Melissa A. Stason of San Francisco; her sister, Barbara A. Benson of East Hartford; a brother, Harold D. (Nicole) Benson of Avon, Connecticut; a daughter-inlaw, Jennifer Stason of Dallas; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Cynthia was preceded by a son, Mark S. Stason; and a brother, Ralph Risley.

Cynthia grew up in East Hartford and graduated in 1957 from East Hartford High School. She and her husband traveled the world during his service in the United States Air Force, eventually settling in Belleville, where they lived for 30 years. She returned to East Hartford in 2016. Cynthia enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and embroidery, especially for her family. She was an avid reader who often read a book a day, and loved gardening and cooking for her family and friends.

The funeral was Thursday from D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel. Interment Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
